Coding is the process of transforming ideas, solutions, and instructions into the language that the computer can understand – that is, binary-machine code.

Here's a simple example of code, written in the Python language: print 'Hello, world!' Many coding tutorials use that command as their very first example, because it's one of the simplest examples of code you can have – it 'prints' (displays) the text 'Hello, world! ' onto the screen.


How does coding work



Almost all programming languages work the same way: You write code to tell it what to do: print("Hello, world"). The code is compiled, which turns it into machine code the computer can understand. The computer executes the code, and writes Hello, world back to us.



Is coding easy to learn

No, coding is not hard to learn. However, like anything new, it's not easy to start, and how difficult a time one has with learning to code will vary across a number of factors. The point is, learning to code isn't impossible; or, it's not as impossible as it might seem when it comes to getting your kids involved.


How to Start Coding
  1. Figure out why you want to learn to code.
  2. Choose which coding language you want to learn first.
  3. Take online courses.
  4. Watch video tutorials.
  5. Read books and ebooks.
  6. Use tools that make learning to code easier.
  7. Check out how other people code.
  8. Complete coding projects.

There are four types of coding:
  • Data compression (or source coding)
  • Error control (or channel coding)
  • Cryptographic coding.
  • Line coding.
